The large pillar hall of the Albertina becomes a three-dimensional work of art by Katharina Grosse – walk-in paintings and sculptures on the floor, wall and ceiling. Panels of fabric were suspended from the vaulted ceiling as a huge knot and integrated into the coloured spatial sculpture. Particular attention was paid to the assembly and anchoring of the fabric knot with its almost 500 kg. The development of the assembly detail was developed on site together with the Albertina team and Katharina Grosse’s team of supervisors.

The exhibition ‘Why Three Tones Don’t Form a Triangle’ is on view at the Albertina until 1 April 2024.
