On 22 May, the anniversary of the first opening of the “Kulturzentrum Mattersburg”, it was reopened after the successful implementation of the renovation concept.

Engineering services in existing buildings with monument protection are a special challenge, as they must always be seen in the context of current standards and guidelines. As a rule, it can usually be assumed that the existing object has reached the end of its lifetime or period of use. This means that every property of the object and its materials must be examined for this aspect. Thus, in this particular case, it was necessary to reconcile the following requirements:

Use, fire protection, escape route, fire resistance of the materials, concrete covering, existing reserves, maximum permissible loads, stabilization, underpinnings, interior insulation, development, sound insulation, acoustics, compatibility of the materials, building sins, demolition concepts, construction schedule planning, preservation of individual components, fire brigade accesses, archive loads, deformations, temperature and humidity compensation in the state archive, neighboring buildings, settlement and crack monitoring, budget cap, design to cost …

KPPK stands for joint planning and construction even under challenging circumstances. We are pleased that a great project has been created here and can be used culturally for the next 100 years … but now really.

Our area of responsibility: structural engineering, building physics, fire-prevention planning, planning coordination
