The Schoenstatt Center at Kahlenberg is the headquarters of the Austrian Schoenstatt Movement. Each Schoenstatt Center can be recognized by its two buildings: the educational center as a seminar center and the Schoenstatt chapel. The interaction of house and chapel is very important to the community. The seminar center consists of 3 existing buildings, which are to be expanded to 3800 m2 of usable space. Since 2019 we have been busy planning the structural implementation of the renovation and expansion of the seminar center. In addition to the seminar center, the renovation of an existing attic conversion and a new attic conversion are being planned. An elevator tower will be added to the seminar center for better access.
Unfortunately, the first tender results led to an unsatisfactory price development and to a new tendering procedure. Together with the company HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft m.b.H. the groundbreaking could then take place. On 29 June 2022, the topping-out ceremony for the first construction phase took place with numerous visitors. The other construction projects of the sisters’ house and the guest house are already in the shell state and will also be celebrated with the topping-out very soon. We look forward to the next few months and the completion of the center in accordance with Schoenstatt’s goal: “Essential experiences in our lives cannot be produced. But in some places, it is easier to be open to them.”
