Office Park II, completed in 2007, is an outstanding example of modern architecture and engineering at Vienna-Schwechat Airport. The Y-shaped office building was designed by Holzbauer & Partner Ziviltechnikergesellschaft mbH and serves as the headquarters of Austrian Airlines AG.
With its nine above-ground storeys and a gross floor area of 31,500 m², Office Park II meets the highest functional and aesthetic standards. The striking V-shape composite columns support the reinforced concrete skeleton structure and give the building an unmistakable architectural identity. The ensemble is complemented by a canteen on the first floor, which offers employees a modern catering infrastructure.
Innovative construction method
A special feature of the building is the double-skin glass façade, which not only provides optimum sound insulation against the noisy surroundings of the airport, but also has a radar-absorbing function. Inside the building, innovative structural planning ensures that the load-bearing components appear slender and elegant. These were structurally optimized by means of hot design in composite construction.
Technical highlights
- Data center and underground car park: The airport’s data center and an underground car park are housed on the two underground floors.
Prestressed double T-beams were used for the column-free construction of the garage ceiling. - Connection between Office Park I and II: A bridge on the second floor connects the two buildings and enables seamless internal access.
The project was implemented in collaboration with DI Pachler. Our Team was responsible for the structural design as well as for the function of the test engineer. Office Park II combines innovative technology, modern design and optimal integration into the airport environment. It is not only a central workplace, but also an impressive example of contemporary engineering.
