The Kulturzentrum Mattersburg (Mattersburg Cultural Center) was built in 1976. Its unique appearance, characterized by the prominent use of concrete as a building material, is referred to as Brutalism. Many buildings of this modernist architectural style have been placed under heritage protection, including the cultural center in Mattersburg.
In 2015, the architectural firm HOLODECK architects ZT GmbH from Vienna won the competition to renovate the aging and already vacant cultural center. Together with the Federal Monuments Authority of Austria (BDA), an innovative renovation concept was developed and successfully implemented.
A heartfelt thank you to @HOLODECK architects for the collaboration and the projects realized together. Wishing you much success with new challenges and the grand finale!
