Homemade bread is now being baked in a wood-fired oven in Kittsee again! To achieve this, not only did a house have to be lovingly renovated, but the wood-fired oven also had to be activated by Austria’s only oven builder for historic ovens. We had the opportunity to support architect DI Thomas Zacher sp-Zacher ZT GmbH in the areas of structural design and building physics. At the start of the project – 2 years ago – one could only assume which treasure was slumbering at Joseph-Joachim-Platz No. 7. With the help of local restorers, layer by layer was meticulously removed, and the building was carefully modified and supplemented in terms of structural design and building physics. Thus, a historically valuable gem including the original art of baking could be preserved. We wish the family business Ströck good luck and another 150 years of baking history…
