The existing buildings of the sports facility “Bundesspielplatz Wienerberg” are being renovated to enable schoolchildren in Vienna to continue exercising on this large, open area in the future. The aim of the renovation is to reduce energy consumption and to take a step towards self-sufficiency. In order to meet today’s standards, the buildings are thermally upgraded. A subsequent connection to the district heating network as well as the switch to a heat pump enable the change to a sustainable energy system.

Unfortunately, the existing roofs cannot accommodate any additional loads for the installation of a PV system, so a new steel construction for a PV system is being planned around the grandstand, which will at the same time serve as a roof for this previously exposed area. Finally, the lighting of the sports field will also be converted to a modern LED solution, so that outdoor sports can also be practised at any time of the day in the future. We wish all athletes a lot of fun with the renovated facility.
