An innovative building concept enables temporary structures that optimally combine design, flexibility, and sustainability – modular architecture for events.
Proven at major national and international events
Used at the Alpine Ski World Championships in Schladming in 2013, the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014 and Pyeongchang in 2018, the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024, as well as the America’s Cup in Bermuda in 2017, this system impressed with a clear material strategy: stainless steel, glass and cross-laminated timber create a high-quality appearance, while solid steel structures in the background ensure safety and stability.
All components are designed for maximum mobility – parts weighing less than 1,000 kg fit into standard shipping containers and are assembled using precise connection techniques. The modules are designed for up to 30 uses and can be converted into residential buildings after their event use. This extends the life cycle of the components and conserves resources.
The concept is the result of close collaboration between Loidl GmbH, KPPK Ziviltechniker GmbH, Layher Gerüstsysteme GmbH, SIHGA GmbH, and KLH Massivholz GmbH. The aim is to rethink temporary architecture – efficiently, with high quality, and with a view to the future.
