A residential construction project that consistently thinks sustainability through to the end😊
Mitten in Gablitz stands for a new quality in multi-storey timber construction: completed in 2025, the project comprises around 50 apartments, built using resource-saving soli wood construction methods – with a high degree of prefabrication, ecological clarity, and technical precision.
The forward-looking design by Treberspurg & Partner Architekten, Ziviltechniker GesmbH won the Austrian Federal Forestry competition. We supported the project as technical general planners in all key areas: structural engineering, building physics, building services, fire protection, and testing engineering.
What makes this project special:
- Standardization as a key resource: Recurring building structures and industrially prefabricated wooden elements reduced both construction and maintenance costs—without compromising architectural or energy quality.
- Structural solution for emergencies: A special component was developed in collaboration with the construction company for the cantilevered balcony slabs, which safely bears the load even in the event of a fire.
- Forward thinking in the basement: The underground car park was designed to withstand rare flooding and to ensure that water can still seep away on the property itself.
- Technology with a sense of proportion: Slim steel supports were used to limit deformation. Three shaped tube frames efficiently transfer the loads above the garage entrance.
Mitten in Gablitz shows how sustainable construction is not only a question of materials, but above all of attitude and depth of planning.
